Today we have a very special treat! If the shoes didn’t catch your eye then the many other details surely will!  Kathryn Saeger from Simply & Forever has shared her wedding with us. Where was your wedding and what made you choose the venue? Our wedding was at Concordia Lutheran Church in their beautiful old sanctuary and our reception was at The Westin in Downtown St. Louis.

What were your colors? Raspberry Pink with Lime Green

Describe your flowers – We had a mixture of high and low arrangements because the ceiling in the room was taller, and we wanted bright flowers to stand out against the dark wood columns and the brick walls.  We had a mixture of orange lillies, hot princess pink roses, orange spray roses, green hydrangeas, and curly willow in the tall vases with the added detail of a green dendrobium orchid suspended in the vase.  I bought black vases for the short arrangements to really showcase the flowers and make them pop against the lime green runners on each of the tables.  They were a mixture of the same flowers as the tall vases, just without the curly willow!  They were beautiful!

What was your one cannot-live-without wedding purchase, item or vendor? This is a tough one, because I loved everything I bought, made, or got through a wedding vendor!  But I would have to say our photobooth was that one cannot-live-without wedding purchase.   Everyone had a blast and I have a great guestbook with notes and pictures of all of our family and friends to look at for the rest of our lives.

What was on the menu? We had a green salad with dried cranberries and julienne granny smith apple sticks with red wine vinaigrette for our salad course.  Then we had a yummy passion fruit sorbet before our main entree!  Main entree was a duo plate with a grilled salt & pepper filet and pan seared salmon with roasted tomato sauce.  Our families are very much a meat & potatoes family so we accompanied the meats with smoked cheddar smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

And our dessert was our lovely wedding cake that they drizzled raspberry over with a dipped fruit on the side!

Was there a certain theme or décor element you tried to incorporate into your big day? Everything from our invitations to the decor was a vintage with a modern twist.  The invitations had vintage fonts and monogram but we modernized it with the lime green.  I also used vintage containers in green and dark blue to accent the cocktail foyer area.  Also, the photobooth gave each of the guests their own black and white strip to keep, which was the vintage flair I was going for.

What was the most meaningful part of the day? I would say our ceremony was the most meaningful part of the day.  I didn’t see Mike before the ceremony so there was the anticipation of walking down that aisle to him, and knowing that we were going to be one in the eyes of God as soon as we walked out of the sanctuary.

Mike’s response, the part where we got married!  ( see great minds think alike!)

What was your favorite detail? My favorite detail was the lavender sachets that we had at everyone’s places.  We put a lot of love and time in those, and everyone loved them.  We are still hearing from friends and family that they are still using them, and they smell wonderful still.

How is married life now and what have you learned since your wedding day? Married life is amazing!  To us, it didn’t really change who we were as a couple.  It did give me a new last name to get used to, but it was really about taking that next step, and continuing to grow the relationship we had built already.  Communication is key in any relationship, and we definitely communicate on everything and anything including budgets, decorating, jobs, and our dreams for the future.  I couldn’t ask for a better husband, as he is the rock in my life who continually supports me in everything I do.
