When it comes to your wedding day, there is one piece of advice that I would give to you above all others. Make it yours. Bottom Line. Do not make it your best friend’s or your mom’s or Martha Stewart’s. Yours. This couple, sent to me from Andrea Cunningham of Cunningham Photo Artists, personifies this idea.
Andrea says: “This particular couple, Lisa and James, are both accountants for the same firm in Charlotte and that is how they met.
They actually said no to an engagement shoot at first because they thought we would make them go run through a field, something we find beautiful, but that didn’t feel like them. We created and styled a modern hotel escape storyline for them which even involved us shooting on the roof of the building that faces the accounting firm where they work.
We could see James’ office from up there and it was so fun and scary as a gust of wind almost blew us all away.
We love working with couples that want something unexpected and unique and that is definitely Lisa and James.”
Don’t be afraid to tell your vendors what you want. Communicate both likes and dislikes to them so they know how to serve you best. We will talk a lot on this topic because nothing breaks my heart more than hearing that a bride got lost in the shuffle and feels that her wedding was not a reflection of she and her handsome groom.
While planning your wedding, stand up for yourself and your ideas. Create a clear vision for your wedding before you do anything else. This will help you with venue selection, vendor choices, colors, and decor. Need help creating that direction or finding the words to embody your ideas? Head over to the Wedding Style Dictionary put together by Lauren at Every Last Detail. It is chock full of words and ideas to get you going!
