Happy Thursday, Everyone!  I am so excited to join in the Thursday Tips blog carnival with some other great wedding pros to bring you some guidance during the engagement season of your life run a bit smoother.  The focus this week is geared towards all you brides out there!  For those of you that have already walked down the aisle, next week is all about tips that will make your spring cleaning a bit more fun so don’t think I don’t have something coming down the pipes for everyone!

Let’s dive in!

1.  Communication :: Being engaged is not always rainbows and butterflies.  There are many conversations to be had and many decisions to be made throughout the months leading up to the big day.  My tip for you in this is to keep all lines of communication OPEN and HONEST.  Yes, this means that even though your future mother-in-law refuses to stop buying bolts of hot pink tulle even though you have given strict instructions that there is to be no form of pink anywhere that day, you can be mad… but you also have to talk it out.  No one likes sour milk to stick around. Bite the bullet ladies, and step into a role of graciousness.  Thank her for her excitement and wanting to help, then channel those good intentions of hers into good actions.  Be honest, be kind, and be thankful that she’s helping.  Hear me when I say that throwing fits, demanding things of people, or pouting won’t get you anywhere.  Communicate positively and then move on.

2.  Read this post.  It offers tons of ways to escape from the craziness that is wedding planning.  Take a breather, guys.  A whole world of change is coming your way.  Make sure you’ve taken care of your partner through all of it because I’m betting you want them there on the other side of the I do’s as well.

3.  Keep perspective.  Ahhhh yes, I said it.  The wedding is important and will be a day that holds monumental value in your life BUT… what are you planning that day for?  It’s to start a marriage. It is one milestone of many that you will celebrate with that man that swept you off your feet.  Are all your plans important?  Yes!  But is it worth flippingoutstressinggetmesomecoffebeforeistranglesomeone?  No.  Breathe, sweet friend.  You’re getting married!  And even if it rains, or if the linens come in the wrong color, I’m betting that if your heart is focused on the right thing, that walk down the aisle will feel just as magical.

I hope you’ve found some peace amidst the crazy this week.

Happy Friday, blog friends! Today’s post comes from my lovely intern, Lindsey. She is a peruser of the webs and always comes up with some of the most fun inspiration boards! For those of you brides out there just getting your feet wet in the inspirational wedding world, Lindsey’s got some great pointers and resources to get you started. Hope you enjoy!

Hello, Everyone! My name is Lindsey. I’m from a small town in East Texas and have a loving and supportive family. I’m a collector of quotes, pictures, anything I find interesting or beautiful. I have a passion for event planning and design, and a love for beauty and creativity. I get excitement from adventure, reading a good book, coffee and of course…weddings!

One of my favorite parts about planning weddings is the first glimpse of what the wedding will look like through an inspiration board. There’s nothing quite like visualizing the perfect blend of color and design for your big day. Get excited about the unlimited design possibilities and feel the thrill of creating a cohesive look for your wedding by checking out these inspiration-filled sites!

The talented girls at Green Wedding Shoes, Grey Likes Weddings and The Wedding Shoebox provide wonderfully made inspiration boards. The boards are separated into season, color palette and design so take your time and enjoy! One trend I love right now is the combination of soft shades of pink and cream. For my board I chose a color palette that was feminine and cool to mix with the vintage and garden-party elements.

If you’re feeling creative and want to build your own inspiration board, Style Me Pretty’s “Build a Board” is the place to go. All of the images are at your fingertips, so simply dragging and dropping images into the template will do the trick. I have also recently become captivated by Polyvore and Pinterest. I collect inspiration from these sites daily and am amazed by the material I find while searching through the images.

So if you’re in need of an inspiration pick-me-up (for your wedding or for fun), have fun exploring these sites; you’re sure to be inspired! If you do happen to go on a board creating frenzy, leave us a comment with a link to your board! We’d love to see what you create!

Mar 17/11 Let’s talk about love

Love is a many, splendored thing. Love lifts us up where we belong, All you need is Love….. (anyone on the rooftop at Moulin Rouge with me?)

Ah, if only it were as easy as most love song titles paint it to be.  In my experience it’s been more along the lines of: Love is a battlefield.  It holds valiant triumphs alongside staggering losses.  Truly, it’s not that love isn’t fulfilling or brilliant or deeply enriching it’s just that it isn’t ONLY those things.  It’s also quite a bit of work.  It’s more than an emotion, it’s a choice.  And I’m not just talking about marriage here.

Love itself is a risk.  I venture to guess that each of us has proven that within our own lives at some point.  Because when it comes to laying your heart, feelings, and trust on the line – there is always the chance that you won’t get it all back.  And often times those three things tend to form into an amplifier for hurt should they not be looked after with care.  But yet, we are told to choose to love.  Amidst all the perils of hurt.

Why?

For mathematicians (and gamblers) :: Because the reward outweighs the cost.

For hopeless Romantics :: Because love conquers all.

For Grey’s Anatomy fans :: Because it’s what Jesus would freaking do (name that episode!)

For Quoters :: Because it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

For You :: Because a life without love really isn’t a life at all.

I believe this whole heartedly.  Love is so important when it comes to forming your life’s story.  Who you are, who you want to be, and what your life stands for is all wrapped up in the way you love.

What does the way you love say about you?
