Jul 21/10 an open letter to my tiny closet

James and I were so blessed to be able to buy our first home and we love it.  Well, most of it… Our master bedroom closet is approximately the size of a Pez dispenser.  And, for a girl with a love for shoes, it just isn’t cutting it.  So, I’ve drafted a letter to warn my poor undersized closet of my intention in the coming weeks.  I invite you to…

I invite you to join me in becoming a master closet organizer!  C’mon, it will be fun!

Dear teeny tiny closet,

This thing – you and me – is not working out so well.  Well, it might work if it was just you and me.  But it’s not.  It’s you and me and him (hello, marriage.  Here, have my closet space. womp).  That’s a lot of ands but not a lot of space.  So, I’ve decided to take a stand.  I have relinquished my fight to move walls to create a Carrie Bradshaw worthy closet (I am NOT happy about this by the way) and have moved on to more practical means.  Consider this your official warning.  I am a red-head and I take no prisoners.  I vow to shelve, organize, rearrange and finagle until I come out on top.

Yours truly,

Lauren

Have a malfunctioning closet of your own?  Share it with the class!  Let’s get these bad boys whipped into shape before Fall arrives.  I’ll keep you updated on my progress and some of the great organization products I find to help me along the way.  Send your closet/organization tackling stories my way, I would love to share them on the blog!  lauren{at}lovemilkandhoney.com

Lauren Kelly: Sandy, I WISH that was my shoe cabinet!! Isn\'t that amazing?? July 21,2010 01:23pm

Lauren Grove: OMG, we're dealing with the SAME thing. Although thank goodness we're able to fit *most* of our clothes in our closets (read: 2 closets- 1 in the bedroom, 1 in the office holding clothes that don't get worn too often) my shoes have yet to find a home. I must confess, they're still living in the suitcase that I packed them in- minus a few every day wearing pairs. I would LOVE to see what you come up with, because I'm afraid a good 'ol "over the door" shoe rack isn't going to cut it! August 17,2010 12:10pm

Danae Moran: I totally understand the closet issue! As a girl who loves clothes, good style, and regularly shops at thrift stores and garage sales, I find myself with lots of items needing a home. I got married this summer so as my husband and I get used to sharing our space, it isn\'t getting any bigger. We live in a tiny 390 sq ft apartment with one little closet in the bedroom. I love it but it sure is small! Thankfully my dear husband gives me most of the room!August 19,2010 10:43pm

Jul 18/10 One Year (a week late)

Last Sunday was a very very special day.  On July 11th of last year I was surrounded by girls in green dresses, lots of heat and sunshine, family I hadn’t seen since I was 2 and the wedding of my dreams.  James and I skipped town this past week to celebrate our anniversary by spending a little time alone as well as some time with James’s family (who we rarely…

My James,  I love you so very much.

This year has been incredible and I could not possibly think of anyone better to have shared it with.

Your never ending ability to make me feel loved in the best and most fulfilling way possible is more than I could have imagined.

You are my partner, my confidant, my best friend, and my companion.

I love you endlessly and have enjoyed every moment of living a love story with you.

Happy Anniversary, babe.

xoxo,L

We are pleased to welcome Josh & Amber of Ulmer Studios.  We’re so excited that they’re on the Spark! Team and will be shooting portrait sessions with each couple as well as photos of the event as a whole.  They’re here to share a bit about themselves so you know what you’re getting into by spending the weekend with us at Spark!
————————————————-
We are Josh & Amber Ulmer of Ulmer Studios…here to share a little bit about ourselves so you have an idea about us
and get to know us before coming to the Spark event!

We met through the internet I guess you could say because of mutual friends!  Long story short (you can ask us about it when you come to Spark!) it went like this..meet in person…Amber blows Josh off…Josh deletes Amber’s number. Amber sees Josh 4 months later…thinks she’s crazy for not going after him….texts Josh…Josh has to ask who it is..because Amber’s number is
gone!  After a few games of the heart, they start dating in February…get engaged in April…and get married in November all of the same year!

You will now find us with a little 15 month old baby girl and we will be married 6yrs this November!  I guess when you know, you know!!!

How we got into photography:  Josh was into photography in high school…taking photography classes & developing black& white film in dark rooms. I (Amber) got into photography by way of the scrapbook world…my parents owned a scrapbook store and I wanted better photographs when it came to scrap-booking.  We knew we wanted to splurge for a nice camera we were waiting until the following year at tax-return time.  Josh, being sneaky, got Amber one for Christmas instead!  Our first DSLR! Amber, of course overjoyed when she opened it, knew that with a camera this nice, she wanted to use all the bells and whistles and shoot only in manual mode.   Some quality time with the instruction manual and a few days later, we were shooting like crazy.

We both had a love for photography that grew even more as we began shooting together. We started having people who read my (Amber) blog contact us about taking their photos & wanted to know our pricing…at the time we didn’t even know if this was something we wanted to do on a full-time scale or not.  After much consideration and lots of processing through what we love about life and the things that get us stoked we decided this was something we wanted to dive into as a business!

I know it sounds cliche’ but there is something about the love between a couple when they become husband & wife that is just amazing! Listening to our clients stories get us stoked about love all over again!  When a couple gets to see images of themselves it’s like having an outside glimpse into your relationship. It helps when moods might be on the down, or when moods are on the up…it makes us even happier…there is something about a photo that just captures a feeling and suspends it in time – allowing a person to be drawn in. We never stop growing in our passion for photographic dynamic couples and for love.
